This is a normal question to ask when presented with this topic. While math for AI is well-known, quantum computers will one day solve problems that we cannot even imagine right now. And every programming model has mathematics as its backbone.
Currently, quantum computing is more math and quantum physics and not much programming. Remembering that, we need to have at least an introduction to quantum physics in your programming skill set. If you want to really learn quantum computing, currently, you will need to know quantum physics. But a day may come when the intelligence of a machine, a quantum computer, may surpass the performance of the human brain. Skynet, anyone?
